The Omura’s whale

During my stay in November on the Nosy Be island in Madagascar, I was lucky to come across a whale group Omura (Balaenoptera omurai) that fed in krill bench.

At first, we did not know what kind of whale we had met.

Little did we imagine that we had encountered a rare filmed for the first time in Nosy Be in the middle of the year 2015!

It was an unprecedented meeting in emotion and load!

Namely, it is a species identified in 2003 off Japan. The researchers did not expect to find near Madagascar.

There seem to have a population of several dozen individuals permanently in Malagasy waters.
